Over the wire : a Canadian pilot's memoir of war and survival as a POW / Andrew Carswell.
A personal account of life as a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot during the allied bombing raids over Germany. Toronto-born Andrew Carswell was just 18 years old when he enlisted and began training to fly a Lancaster bomber. On his fourth mission his plane was shot down and he was, for the next three years, a POW at Stalag VIIIB. This is Andrew's story, but it is also the story of tens of thousands of Canadians of his generation who served their country in an hour of great need.
